At least, that is what my wise-woman self tells me: Trust the process.⠀ ⠀ The process is not linear. The process will not be understood by your monkey mind (which undoubtedly will want to dictate the process and will fail miserably). ⠀ ⠀ The process may be met with all your defenses. The sudden need to sleep. The sudden need to hide into a book. The sudden need to shove mouthfuls of popcorn into your mouth while reading said book.⠀ ⠀ If your body says rest, rest. If you body says dig in, dig in. If your body says, "you are putting up your defenses" then stay curious. ⠀ ⠀ Allow your partner to call you out (they always will). Allow your dreams to speak to you (make sure you're listening).⠀ ⠀ Move. Shake. Walk. Dance. Tickle. Flail. Kick. Conga. [really wise self? Conga? 🤷‍♀️]⠀ ⠀ Walk, relax, meditate in savasana.⠀ ⠀ #Selfcare, self-care, self-care. And then some more.⠀ ⠀ The sun will rise again. It didn't disappear, it was just out of view. Ooof, feeling this one today. First it was just sorrow from the grief that always sneaks up on me just in time for pumpkin pie. I’m missing my mom so much. I wallowed in it for a good while (the grief, not the pie). Then I grew tired of the wallowing. So I shared my sorrow with friends and was met with so much love. I cried some more but this time out of joy-sorrow. And then laugh-cried because wow I really didn’t need more tears but okay! I sometimes forget, all it takes is surrendering and connecting, and behold I’m rewarded every. Damn. Time. *The man who gives you a back rub without permission. The guy who stands a little too close on the bus. The boys who joked & the men who joked & so many jokes but you weren't laughing. The jokes you didn’t get because you were too young. The gut punch when you were old enough to finally get it. *Praying not to be raped by the guy angry you wouldn’t have sex with him. Relief you weren’t raped. Rage over feeling relief.⠀ *All the winks. The “hey baby”s. The talking, always the talking, louder & over & in between. The drive-bys & the phone call after phone call after phone call. Will he stay or will he go now? If he stays it will be trouble. Another damn fork in the road. So many forks decided by someone else.⠀ *All of it: a catch in the throat, a drop in the gut. Fight or flight. Fight or flight. An entire lifetime dictated by it. Learned at an age when you couldn’t spell #rape but lived it, followed by a lifetime of repressing, running, hiding, cajoling, negotiating with it. The slow release of a fist when you heard the first me too. #Healing when you utter your first #metoo into a microphone into the dark to mostly strangers because they all have #metoos or have loved ones with #metoos & they don’t know you so that makes it better. Healing healing healing healing so much healing you are so tired of the healing please can I stop the healing? Relief when you suddenly wake up one day 3.5 decades later & discover your life is no longer a series of fight or flight. Who knew it was possible.⠀ *Healing mixed w/ some telling. The telling over & above around & beneath. You spoke into a mic & in circles in social workers’ offices. But still you're afraid & why exactly? You've already lost so much. Is more loss possible? Anything's possible. The walking trigger is president & this, this is does it. The trigger @ a microphone & this feels like another fork. You want a say for once so you tell it like it is, not above or beneath but through, an arrow of truth. The world doesn’t crumble. You realize you weren't afraid of others but of seeing yourself in full light, the horror & strength & despair & rising. A thousand #metoos tossed into light toward a future without me toos.

It's first day since #irma that the air smells green. Not brown or black (toxic sludge anyone?) but green, glorious green. A hint of new growth after the chaos and loss we experienced in #florida from #hurricaneirma. I'm immensely grateful for the safety of my loved ones and the place we call home. Sixteen #robins. That’s what I saw outside my bedroom window this morning. There were probably more, but the flock flew away before I could finish counting. I then crawled back into bed to hopefully sleep off the bug that is making the rounds. I’m up finally, feeling much better, and my Fitbit says I slept sixteen hours! 😮 *Today is brought to you by the number sixteen.* I’ll let you numerology people unravel that one. Look what came in the mail! My first test run of some merchandise (or "merch" as the kids call it.) It is exciting and scary in the way that birthing new things can be! 🤓 . It occurred to me how much has changed in one year. Precisely one year ago I was in the midst of a miscarriage. I was suffering greatly. I didn't know it but I was in the dark of the cocoon, in the midst of a rearranging of life and limb not unlike what a 🐛caterpillar must undertake in becoming a butterfly. I wasn't sure I'd ever see light again, let alone learn to fly. -and yet here I am. Complete with butterfly stickers and everything! 😂 . thanks for joining me on the journey.
